    1. I m always amazed at how much I enjoy these Fancy Nancy books I was never a tomboy type but I also was never a girly girl, especially not the way Nancy is And I m also always surprised that every time I read another Fancy Nancy book, the latest one feels as though it s my favorite. This story is great As usual, it s a great friendship story It s also about jealousy and enjoyment for enjoyment s sake, and ballet, and even a wise mom, and so much Reading this aloud together is likely to foster dis [...]

    2. Fancy Nancy AND ballet I am sooo happy I always thought she should dance, and ballet is so perfect for her with all the lovely movements and the fancy French words This is a darling story, in which Nancy and her best friend Bree are sooo excited to learn that they will be doing a sea theme for their ballet recital They both dream of being mermaids, because they already love to play mermaids and have a mermaid lagoon, a mermaid grotto, and made their own mermaid costumes But, things don t quite g [...]

    3. We re big fans of the Fancy Nancy books at our house I don t typically rate review the books, or really, picture books in general, but this one deserves a review Nancy and Bree are excited to be taking part in a dance show, an undersea themed ballet where they are both hoping to be mermaids Alas, the parts are cast and Nancy will be a tree and Bree will be an oyster Both disappointed, they decide to be the best tree and oyster they can be Later, a girl who has been cast as a mermaid sprains her [...]

    4. I know, every time a new Fancy Nancy comes out, I say, This is my favorite But, I can t help myself This one is also delightful All the Fancy Nancys have a moment of deep human angst in the world of a fancy little girl I spend a lot of time in this world, and Jane O Connor has captured it perfectly Nancy and Bree are positive that they will get the mermaid leads in their ballet They are distraught when Bree is an oyster and Nancy is a tree BROWN When one of the mermaids hurts her foot, she takes [...]

    5. Oh Fancy Nancy you just get better and better In this book, Nancy and Bree are super excited that their dance class will be performing a mermaid ballet Both girls love to dress up as mermaids in their pretend play so they are sure they will be cast as 2 of the leads O Connor writes a perfect tale of disappointment, jealousy, and optimism as Nancy and Bree deals with the realities of performing The pictures are so incredibly beautiful and what I most appreciate about this book is that it will del [...]

    6. Another solid installment in the Fancy Nancy series O Connor has written a charming if not entirely new and original story, but as I always find, Robin Glasser s art is the standout I love her details, so important in a project like Nancy And I noticed, perhaps for the first time because she spent so much time in a leotard, that Nancy has a bit of a tummy So do some of the other girls Good for Ms Glasser for not making every character stick thin and being realistic about shapes and sizes.

    7. Super cute The story addressed competition and jealousy which are both good topics to address with my 5 year old right now.

    8. Miss 2 loves the Fancy Nancy books I like the vocabulary building and Nancy is fabulous Nice that she is able to support Bree and make the best of things even when she misses out on the part in the ballet that she wants.

    9. The lesson in this one is about jealousy and I love the way it s written so simple without being preachy And of course we love the language in Fancy Nancy books, as well as the adorable illustrations.

    10. Review Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet As always, super fancy words, story, and pictures This installment has an overcoming jealousy theme which is PERFECT for my five year old but not picked up by my two year old.

    11. This is the best I like costumes and when Bree and Nancy pretend in their Mermaid Mansion, and because I love ballet V, almost 4Nice story that deals themes with friendship, envy and being kind to your friends And of course ballet.

    12. SummaryFancy Nancy and Bree are preparing for the Deep Sea Dance Ballet They both desire the part of the mermaids and even come up with their own fancy mermaid costumes Fancy Nancy practices dancing wherever she goes When Nancy and Bree arrive at the ballet academy they are devastated when they find out that neither of them get the part But when one of the dancers sprains her ankle, someone has to fill in and Bree gets the part Nancy is very upset and jealous for her friend Bree, but will she st [...]

    13. When Madame Lucille announces that they will be performing a ballet called Deep sea Dances, Fancy Nancy and Bree can t wait to be the lead mermaids Unfortunately, they are assigned to be a tree and an oyster After a lovely tea party where they talk about how wonderful each will be in their parts, Fancy Nancy is disappointed once again when the star mermaid gets injured and Bree is selected to take her place instead of her As Nancy struggles with jealously and trying to overcome it, we are treate [...]

    14. Fancy Nancy and her best friend Bree love to be mermaids They put on their fanciest, sparkliest fins, and swim all day long in the lagoon also known as Bree s backyard pool So, when it comes time for Nancy and Bree s auditions for their ballet class new mermaid themed ballet, Nancy and Bree are ecstatic Yet, Nancy is super disappointed to learn that she was cast as a boring tree, and Bree was cast as a lousy clam How will Nancy and Bree ever command the spotlight with such boring roles Read Fanc [...]

    15. We ve read a ton of Fancy Nancy stories and our girls really like them They are fun and girly and introduce new vocabulary words in an interesting, if repetitive, way This book shows Nancy and her friend Bree at dance class Both girls really love to play mermaids and they are very excited for their mermaid themed dance recital The roles they end up playing result in some jealousy and drama, but I love how the girls encourage each other throughout Our oldest loves Bree s mermaid dress She was ima [...]

    16. Oh how I love Fancy Nancy Is it silly that I am not quite certain if it my daughter or myself that is giddy when this book comes off the shelf Every Fancy Nancy we ve read so far has been spectacular That s a fancy word for great Glittery embossed covers to fanciful illustrations Drama like only a little girl can master and oh woe is me I love it to pieces Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet is that just a picture book for your 4 7 year old It is a vocabulary lesson disguised and covered in pin [...]

    18. Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet is one of many books in the Fancy Nancy series This one is one of my personal favorites in the series It starts out with Nancy and her best friends in their ballet class Their class is getting ready for their upcoming ballet and parts in the ballet are being assigned soon Nancy and her best friend both want to play the part of mermaids but sadly get assigned to alternative parts Nancy is disappointed because mermaids are fancy and glamorous and she was really h [...]

    21. When I first saw Fancy Nancy in the library, I passed it by because it looked like it was just a book based on glitter and sparkly tiaras But our library branch is small, options were limited, and I ended up borrowing an FN title on my next library run Since then, I ve continued to borrow FN books I tell myself and my suspicious husband that they are, of course, for Emma, but as she is only 10 months old But the illustrations are wonderful in their details And the positive messages in each book [...]

    22. Thrilling means terrific and exciting all mixed together I would love to attend a performance of Deep Sea Dances Don t you love how so many ballet words are in French This story struck a chord with me it resonates I can identify with Nancy I was cast as a tree including a weeping willow for every performance I was in once I began dance classes as a childMy best friend was a gifted dancer Like Nancy, I watched her perform lead role after lead role I was jealous, but again like Nancy, I am 100 per [...]

    23. I am a dance dad My girls have done modern dance, ballet, and most of all, Irish Step Dancing No matter what level they were at, there was always intense competition A sea of hopeful girls were always trying out for the handful of roles available in every production I love that the main character, Nancy, did not get the part she wanted The jealousy she dealt with is a normal part of life How do we support our friends when they succeed where we failed O Connor handled the story expertly As usual, [...]

    24. By McKayla and Mrs ZastrowThis story was about mom, dad, Nancy, Bree, and Madame Lucille The story took place at Nancy s home and at a ballet studio The problem in the story was that Nancy thought she was the very best dancer and that she and her best friend Bree would both be picked to be mermaids in the ballet, but neither did Nancy was stuck being a tree, and she wasn t happy at all But then one of the mermaids sprained her ankle and Bree got to take her part That made Nancy mad and jealous b [...]

    25. Unlike some of the Fancy Nancy books, this one is amazingly believable Nancy is in ballet class, and is looking forward to the class ballet performance, in which they are performing a story about mermaids Nancy and her best friend love the idea of dancing as mermaidsbut unfortunately, they get cast as a weeping willow and an oyster, respectively Nancy is downcast at first, and then disappointed again when circumstances cause her friend to be promoted into a mermaid role leaving Nancy behind as s [...]

    26. Why do I love Fancy Nancy so much If you know me in real life, you ll know that I am anything but fancy Yet I can t get enough of these books They are so much fun to read out loud and even though my 4 year old wants nothing to do with fancy things herself, she still loves to listen to these stories As always, the illustrations in this book are wonderful I think this particular story is my very favorite of them all I loved seeing the mom sit down with cute Nancy and explain that it s okay to feel [...]

    27. I think this is a great book for young kids It is of a lesson teaching book This book shows students that we should always be happy for our friends when things go right in their lives because we would always want them to be happy for us when things go right in our own lives It shows us that we should never be jealous of our friends no matter the situation or circumstances It also teaches students that we can t always have everything we want There is give and take in life We have to give a littl [...]
