There was a promising premise here, and when the book dealt with the central mythology of its Vegas setting, it actually wasn t bad But then other characters would wander in, like the protagonist s nephew, and my interestdropped quite a bit Besides, its hard to get invested in a protagonist whose basic power is he can t lose at gambling and anything else card related.
