    1. 4 Stars Oh, man I don t remember being a teenager to be so difficult in my day 30 something years ago I am finding that mental health issues are much present nowadays There are depression, panic attacks, anxiety, disturbed sleep, low self esteem and so on With that, tag along the usually bad cope mechanisms as drugs, alcohol and self harm Cutting helps them control their emotional pain what the actual fuck It s used as a defense against what s going on in their lives, a way to get control Says [...]

    2. Loving Lakyn is a gritty read It s not all happy go lucky and you should know this before you open the cover I really like books that have a slightly disturbing quality Bully by Penelope Douglas is arguably my favourite book.Lakyn has decided to end his life but somehow survived Now his family are looking at him under a microscope His Uncle has decided to take him in and his parents can no longer fight it He needs a change in his life if he is going to find happiness Summer camp is the start of [...]

    3. I received a copy of this book from Inkitt Exclusive in exchange for an honest review.Have you ever come across one of those books that, even though there are some weird things going on or awkward writing or it s not your usual thing or whatever, you can t help but completely and utterly fall in love with Yeah, that was Loving Lakyn for me I was about thirty pages in before I admitted that I was completely and utterly invested in Lakyn and his journey To the point that it was one of those books [...]

    4. Journey of living with love. Most part of the story hit me and it made me teary eyed Emotions kept swarming, first half was too painful to read I think it s the first book that I read that made me think of copying all the sentences, even every paragraph, it s simply written yet it s very deep 1st gay read, 1st suicide read, 1st can I copy all those words read Overall, I really love the concept of this story It s ending is the beginning of everything.

    5. 3,5 STARSEven though this book deals with very heavy and complicated issues, it never overwhelmed me I feel the author handled Lakyn s problems in a respectful way, understanding that someone with his issues doesn t get better in a day He needed professional help and the support of family and friends, and even then it s an ongoing road to recovery.Lakyn s POV was interesting, because it was very honest and that helped me understand what he was going through, why he did what he did Unfortunately, [...]

    6. I wasn t sure I was going to like this book But I am trying to broaden my genre reads I have to say that despite the fact that it is not my normal genre, sometimes I struggled with the writing style I COULD NOT stop reading this book It grabbed me and I hated to have to stop reading and I didn t want the book to end The book has a good pace and in places where others would have slowed down it didn t and yet it didn t rush through the things that needed time Which was nice The author didn t run [...]

    7. When I first started this book I didn t know if I was going to be able to finish it I put it down for a while 5 or 6 days before picking it back up again This book was so full of raw pain Sometimes we forget what it s like to be a teenager, life is hard Lakyn had it worse than most, but his story was so powerful We are NOT alone no matter what we may think at times There is always someone, never give up.

    8. Wow First of all the writing style is exactly what I look for in books It took me a while to actually get through the book because it brought up too many fresh emotions but that s also why I loved it It was so raw and real The main topic is suicide Obviously it s going to be dramatic But it was realistic Lakyn is the type of character that I can see being a real person in my life Scott, Matt, Juliette etc are all people I feel like I ve known The dialogue is exactly what I remember hearing in hi [...]

    9. Again, I don t even know why, but somehow Charlotte s writing is absolutely captivating I have so much FUN reading her books, and they feel so real They aren t perfect, but they re freaking adorable and short and GAH Definitely worth the read.

    10. Not the type of book I usually read but I enjoyed it very much It was at times rough, raw and with many surprises The characters felt true, even if not greatly fleshed out Maybe because we are seeing all this from the point of view of a teenager who has a lot of issues of his own But still, it was quite a journey with many lovely moments Lakyn s low moments, his cutting and his internal struggle, were detailed well, enough for me to understand how it affected him, how he felt they helped. It was [...]

    11. This was a gritty and raw read addressing issues that many young people face today The author did a great job with the story line and the characters were utterly fantastic I found myself caught up in the emotions that were literally dripping off the pages and I m glad I took a chance on this one YA NA Book Divas I requested a copy for reviewing purposes and made no guarantee of a favorable review The opinions expressed here are unbiased and my own.

    12. I was sent an advanced reader s e copy of this novel via the publicist at Inkitt All opinions are honest and my own Loving Lakyn comes with a list of trigger warnings The author provides the list on her website, please view before going into it I will also touch on the hard topics in this review This is a prequel to Charlotte Reagan s debut novel, Just Juliet This can be read as a standalone Lakyn has been through many hardships in his young life from childhood to sixteen present The story opens [...]

    13. Everybody is Messed so Deal with It Lakyn is an abused neglected gay suicidal teen who attempts to kill himself and is them rescued adopted by his uncle away from his abusive parents But his uncle is still mourning his aunt and so is his out of control cousin Then Lakyn falls in love with a popular boy who is still in the closet and spirals out of control with the help of his cousin and school bullies But this has a happy ending.I loved Lakyn and Scott It was obvious from the beginning that they [...]

    14. A heart breaking look into a reality, for some, that s hidden in the shadows and labeled taboo Self harm, social detachment and a pure sense of self loathing coat the pages as Lakyn copes with the shattered realization that the world keeps on even when you don t want to be apart of the world Exhausted with being exhausted and fighting for some semblance of normalcy in a life where normal was and has not been the norm, Lakyn turns to addictive behaviors to ease his pain With the real possibility [...]

    15. This is a painful, honest and very emotional story of a young boy s growth from an abused child to a young man teen who learns that others can love him and he is worth loving and that living is worthwhile Lakyn has been alternately abused and totally ignored and neglected by his scum bag parents He decides that he cannot live this way any longer and commits suicide or tries to His cousin finds him and his life is saved, but he does not want to live Finally his uncle manages to convince the autho [...]

    16. Loved Lakyn Life is ugly and twisted and it chews up all the good things and spits them back out broken and covered in slime Until they re too weak to keep going Until everything falls apart An emotional and haunting story that is sweet one moment and painful the next You can t help but love Lakyn Reagans ensured that we felt every blow, every caress, and every tear this is a five tissue box readLakyn was raised in an abusive home, his life is one lie after another, his world is caving in on him [...]

    17. Loving Lakyn is not a book I would normally choose to read, but I am glad I did Although this book is based on high school age kids I would not let a teenager under 16 read.having said that I like the story Lakyn had a tough childhood and he s rescued by his uncle And thank goodness his uncle has a brain because he handles Lakyn wonderfully Lakyn is a troubled teen who is also gay He falls for a boy who is not out in the open and whose parents are very much not ok with it The story is so on poin [...]

    18. I didn t pay attention to the genre when I agreed to read this book for review Then it started out with horrible language In spite of 2 strikes against it, I read it and thought it was a good book well written and probably a good book for the genre Did I enjoy it That s where the mixed feelings come it I m not sorry I read it, but I m not sure it s one I would have read, if I had been paying attention and I m not sure that I appreciate having the language and ideas in my head If this is your gen [...]

    19. I loved the sarcastic nature of Lakyn I liked his attitude and how he explained depression and the anxieties that come with it I liked the way he came out to the reader in the flow of the story, it was natural I would have enjoyed hearing about Juliet and her problems I felt like that subplot could have been developed better The romance storyline was believable to me Experiencing school and romantic feelings made me very happy that I am an adult and don t have to deal with that as frequently an [...]

    20. This book was a thought provoking one for me.I wanted to like it, and for the most part, I did But I couldn t get behind it 100%, because I felt the Christian aspect should have been mentioned in the blurb I m not a religious person, and while I believe in everyone s right to choose their own religious and spiritual path, I don t think it should simply be accepted as normal that everyone is a Christian. That being said, the build up of the story was good, and if the religious overtones were extra [...]

    21. Many people take away stars because its to honest but that there is real life Life has never got easier because we wanted it to and life has always been hard but we have to get stonger than that This story is about a kid doing exactly that He has a lot of struggles and one time he tried to end it all but he failed Lakyn knew what others would than say but yet at the end it didn t bring him down Even after being homosexual This shows that even the strongest of us sometimes need to fall to get up [...]

    22. Amazing, Emotional, TearjerkerI loved this book I had so much work to do and ignored it all just to read Lakyn s story He was so real and I loved the chemistry between him and Scott This book is triggered but deals with issues that young people are going through and being a teacher of kids in high school, I appreciated this book The writer did a good job with sensitive issues and I like the positives that came out in the epilogue to show that there is a reason for living loving oneself Thank you [...]

    23. My first read from author Charlotte Reagan I received a copy of this book from Inkitt Exclusive in exchange for an honest review Loving Lakyn is a disturbing read When I first started this book I didn t know if I was going to be able to finish it, in fact, I actually thought about not finishing it But having adopted five kids, each coming with issues of their own, ultimately led me to finish the book Well written with well developed characters A good read I m not sure I can or will read another [...]

    24. Loving Lakyn is not your typical happy go lucky story it is gritty and real but still a beautiful story where love wins. The characters are complicated and complex and the portrayal of their problems and struggles were very well done especially Lakyn s.Charlotte Reagan has a strong voice and didn t shy away from what she was writing She handled the mental health issues and the LGBTQIA issues very well Loving Lakyn is definitely worth the read.

    26. AddictingOk first off I just have to say this book is AMAZING Second its such an emotional rollercoaster but its so well written It describes everything really well and is in amazing detail Literally couldn t put it down, an amazing read for anyone and everyone.

    27. This was a good read The storyline was great I had one problem though it didn t have much dialogue in it, which I don t really like And the sexy scenes could have been detailed.Otherwise it was a worthy read

    28. A book that i jaf been waiting for a long time I can only praise how well written, funny and realistic it was After reading Just Juliet I had already formed and idea of how Lakyn and Scott had come to be and i have to admit the book was way better than what I had imagined
